Logline: When her best friend vanishes into the clutches of a mysterious retreat on the summer solstice, Derick, a sarcastic, sharp-tongued woman infiltrates the cult-like community to save her—only to find herself seduced by its dark rituals and dangerous sense of belonging.

The Pitch

Where the Hell is Anna? is a supernatural dramedy-thriller — think Yellowjackets meets Bodies Bodies Bodies meets Midsommar.

The story unfolds on the longest, hottest day of the year — the summer solstice. Our protagonist, Derick, is sharp-tongued, self-deprecating, and often hides her fear and longing behind dark humor. Beneath that rough exterior, she’s a fiercely loyal best friend who just wants to feel loved.

When Derick’s best friend Anna goes missing after her own painful breakup, she takes matters into her own hands. Her search leads her to Arcana — a so-called healing retreat center… or so it appears. Determined to rescue Anna, Derick infiltrates the retreat only to find herself seduced by the smoke, mirrors, and sisterhood it promises. As she’s drawn deeper into the world of Arcana — its women, their secrets, and its enigmatic leader Benjamin — the idyllic façade begins to crack. Behind the smiles, meditations, and herbal rituals lies something far darker and more sinister.

This film explores themes of sisterhood, motherhood, womanhood, friendship, mental health, love, and fear. It’s layered with biting comedy and supernatural thriller elements, anchored by characters who are flawed, funny, and deeply human.

Stylistically, it’s haunting yet beautiful — a world alive with cicadas, creeks, gardens, cabins, women in white dresses, and blinding summer sunlight. Unlike most thrillers that lurk in the dark, this one plays out in broad daylight, with everyone dripping in sweat and dirt.

Where the Hell is Anna? is a story with heart, mystery, and bite — tailor-made for cult lovers, women, and anyone drawn to bold, unsettling, unforgettable cinema.
